Halla ist fünfzig und eine unabhängige Frau. Doch hinter der Fassade einer gemächlichen Routine führt sie ein Doppelleben als leidenschaftliche Umweltaktivistin. Bekannt unter dem Decknamen „Die Bergfrau“ bekämpft sie heimlich in einem Ein-Frau-Krieg die nationale Aluminiumindustrie. Mit ihren riskanten Aktionen gelingt es ihr, die Verhandlungen zwischen der isländischen Regierung und einem internationalen Investor zu stoppen. Doch dann bringt die Bewilligung eines fast schon in Vergessenheit geratenen Adoptionsantrags Hallas gradlinige Pläne aus dem Takt. Entschlossen plant sie ihre letzte und kühnste Aktion als Retterin des isländischen Hochlands.

Halla is fifty and an independent woman. However, behind the facade of a leisurely routine, she leads a double life as a passionate environmental activist. Known under the alias “The Mountain Woman,” she secretly wages a one-woman war against the national aluminum industry. Through her risky actions, she succeeds in halting negotiations between the Icelandic government and an international investor. But then, the approval of a nearly forgotten adoption application throws Halla’s straightforward plans off course. Determined, she plans her final and boldest action as the savior of the Icelandic highlands.
